    Quadruple success for scholar Connor

    Posted 1 March 2014

Connor is congratulated by PD Hook HR Manager Jackie Newman

Student Connor Donaldson is celebrating after receiving financial backing from not one but four sponsors for his studies at º¬Ðß²ÝÉçÇø.

Connor, 20, from Enniskillen, Northern Ireland, who is in the second year of a BSc (Hons) agriculture with farm business management degree, has received a scholarship worth £2,000 from the Vaughan Trust, which aims to support the development of agriculture in the county. The trust also sponsored Connor to attend the Oxford Farming Conference in January this year.

Connor is also the latest British Poultry Council scholar sponsored by PD Hook. This scholarship provides £3,500 in the second and fourth years of a degree programme, and a work placement with PD Hook throughout the third year.

Further support for Connor has come via scholarships exclusive to Harper Adams students from the island of Ireland, from Elanco Animal Health and the º¬Ðß²ÝÉçÇø Development Trust.

The former Portora Royal School pupil said: ‘’I have been extremely fortunate to have received scholarships since enrolling at º¬Ðß²ÝÉçÇø. Coming from Northern Ireland, travel costs add an extra pressure and I can't thank enough the Vaughan Trust from Co. Fermanagh for their valuable support.

“I would also like to thank Elanco, the Harper Adams Development Trust and PD Hook, a leading poultry company for supporting me financially.

“I am very happy to have gained a poultry placement with PD Hook, and I would like to thank them for giving me a great opportunity to become involved within this exciting industry.

“I hope to have a successful career within the agricultural industry after gaining my degree. I want to demonstrate my experience and knowledge gained from º¬Ðß²ÝÉçÇø during my poultry placement with P D Hook, and rise to the challenge of securing future food supplies,” added Connor, a former secretary of the Harper Ireland student association and member of the university football club.
