Eric Patton
Meet Eric Patton. Eric joined Triad Z in 2002, and he and his 1968 Roadster have become quite
popular at the meetings and events. Eric has done a lot of work to this car over the last year.
The previous owner had an accident on the day he planned to sell it, after he had cancelled his
insurance. He tore up the front right quarter panel and decided to keep it. Eric tried to talk the
man into selling it to him for a few years. Finally, in 2001, the man accepted. Along with the car,
Eric received a number of boxes full of valuable parts including new carpet, bumpers, a grill and
other various new or refurbished parts. He did not know that he had all of these valuable parts until
he finally opened the boxes over a year and a half after he bought the car.
Eric lives in Greensboro with his wife Donna and daughter Blair. He works for RF Micro Devices
as a Global Security Manager. His other interests (besides Z's) include his old '65 fastback
mustang that is his next project and his new 2002 Harley Davidson "V-Rod".
Eric is quite skilled with cars. He put his way through Engineering School working for Leo Steed
in Greensboro for 8 years in an auto body shop. This is how Eric was able to do much of the work
on the Roadster himself. He has also built a detailed playhouse for his daughter in his backyard.
"One day I plan to use it as a workshop, so it has plenty of electrical outlets (GFCI), a ceiling
fan, and insulated well." Eric says.
Eric believes that something worth having is worth working for. Allot of the time someone else may
think something is not worth working on. They don't see the amount of joy something brings to a
person when they work on it. They believe this because it is not theirs and they don't have the
passion.
Eric has always worked on cars ever since he was a young teenager. He says that he has had over
47 cars. He says that it is starting to get hard to remember each one. Most of them he has worked
on and improve them. He usually sells one after he fixes everything. He guesses that it is the
change and the reward of working on cars. He mainly likes older cars. "They have history".
He says that he likes something that is not common. This is what attracted him to his found
treasure -> His '68 Roadster 2000. He has had Datsun / Nissans before, but likes the 2000
Roadster the best.
Good Luck Motoring!
